Last weekend, we headed to the coast for a cozy weekend with friends. A few weeks before leaving, Sara & I planned a hike on the Drift Creek Falls Trail in the Cascade Range. Man, I am so happy we did this hike.

Not only was the weather perfect, on an otherwise rainy weekend, but the trail itself was pretty wonderful. At one point, the wind wipped through the air, and we all went silent. Sara’s babe noticed the sound of the leaves showering down on us, and looked on in awe. The kids enjoyed their packs, and carrying various leaves and sticks. We eventually got to the giant suspension bridge that spans the creek. There’s always a, “Oh man! This is why we did this hike!” moment on every trail, and this bridge was that moment. While I don’t love heights, I really appreciated the amount of engineering involved to create such a beautiful hike & view.

Our Autumn schedule is one that we hold dear … we only have so many weekends before the holidays come. We love spending them outside, on the wet trails. I am so thankful for a baby who enjoys being out in the Oregon air, and for a husband whose collarbone has healed, and can carry our kiddo.

If you get a chance to visit Lincoln City, and have time to backtrack a bit into the range, I really recommend this hike.
